Bologna, Italy
Said to have been founded in the fifth century AD by S. Petronius, S. Giovanni in Monte (piazza San Giovanni in Monte, 3) became the seat of a community of Lateran canons in 1118 and was rebuilt at the end of the thirteenth century; among its most famous features are late fifteenth-century stained-glass windows based on designs by Francesco del Cossa; it was reconstructed in gothic style towards the middle of the 15th century.
